Dear Apple and the iPhone,
Well, it’s been great having you as my mobile phone, camera, email, web browser, texting, and score checking device for more than 6 years now, but alas all good things must come to end. It’s not me, it’s definitely you…. you’ve become more of a luxury item now.
Thinking about all the things that we did together (all the things mentioned above), it just doesn’t make financial sense now to continue our life together with your next iteration (iPhone 6s). Even after considering another two year contract with my phone carrier, I would still need to shell out another $300 bucks (doesn’t even include the inevitable accessories….I love accessories) just to afford you.
What am I really getting into in the end? A more expensive ($800 plus) way of phoning/texting, web browsing, photo taking, score checking way of doing things?
Yeah, no thanks.
Granted, you did start it all. You were the first one to do all that and more. But why cost more?
Greed.
After an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 5, hello Nexus 5x and the Android world (it’s been an amazing experience so far).
Yours truly,
R.
p.s. a $300 phone credit to switch phone carriers didn’t hurt to take advantage of as well.
